Application of trigonometry class 10 important questions

This Mathematics PDF Notes contains Trigonometry important questions class 10 for upcoming School and government exams. In addition, Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between the sides and angles of triangles, particularly right triangles. In a class 10 math course, you may learn about the following topics in trigonometry:

  1. The six trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant) and how they are defined in terms of a right triangle.
  2. Using the trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, and tangent) to solve problems involving right triangles.
  3. The Pythagorean theorem and its use in finding the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle.
  4. Using the trigonometric ratios to find the measure of an angle in a right triangle.
  5. The unit circle and how it is used to define the trigonometric functions for angles beyond the range of 0 to 90 degrees.
  6. The inverse trigonometric functions and their use in solving problems involving right triangles.
  7. The Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines and their use in solving problems involving non-right triangles.
  8. The application of trigonometry to problems involving circles and triangles.
  9. The use of trigonometry to solve problems involving vectors.

Question : A right triangle has one leg with a length of 8 cm and another leg with a length of 15 cm. What is the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle?

To solve this problem, you can use the Pythagorean theorem, which states that in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. In this case, the hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle, and the legs of the triangle are the other two sides.

The formula for the Pythagorean theorem is: c^2 = a^2 + b^2

Where c is the length of the hypotenuse and a and b are the lengths of the other two sides.

Substituting the given values, we have: c^2 = 8^2 + 15^2

c^2 = 64 + 225

c^2 = 289

c = sqrt(289)

c = 17 cm

Therefore, the length of the hypotenuse is 17 cm.
