To find the the maximum number of molecules is present in we can convert all the options into one unit (in terms of moles) because we know that whichever gas has maximum number of molar quantity will definitely have maximum number of molecules in it. so-

  • (i) Number of moles in 15 L of H2 gas at STP. = (15 L / 22.4 L) = 0.67 moles
  • (ii) Number of moles in 5 L of N2 gas at STP. = (5 L / 22.4 L) = 0.22 moles
  • (iii) Number of moles in 0.5 g of ​H2 gas = (0.5 g / 2 g mol-1) = 0.25 moles
  • (iv) Number of moles in 10 g of O2 gas = (10 g / 32 g mol-1) = 0.312 moles

So we easily find the number of moles of the substance by mass divided by molar mass. Number of Moles is equal to the mass of the substance is divided by the molar mass of that substance. We know that One mole is equal to 22.4L. So first we will find the the maximum number of molecules is present in 15 L of H2 gas at STP

We know that Moles = Given Volume/22.4L

So number of moles present in 15 Hydrogen gas is = 15L/22.4L = 0.669 Moles. We know that number of moles is directly proportional to the number of molecules. So total number of molecules in 15L hydrogen gas is 0.669

  • (ii) Number of moles in 5 L of N2 gas at STP. = (5 L / 22.4 L) = 0.22 moles
  • (iii) Number of moles in 0.5 g of ​H2 gas = (0.5 g / 2 g mol-1) = 0.25 moles
  • (iv) Number of moles in 10 g of O2 gas = (10 g / 32 g mol-1) = 0.312 moles
